Brazil’s head coach, Mano Menezes acknowledged his team’s poor performance, following their surprising defeat to Mexico at Wembley.

“I am very sad,” Menezes told Globoesporte. “We had done an excellent job till we reached the final. We were confident in achieving gold, but we could not replicate our other performances.”

Without hesitation, he went on to praise the Mexican National Team. “We can only recognize the superiority of our opponent and congratulate them for the prize we would have liked to see as ours.”

Neymar, the 20-year old superstar, also admitted to falling short. “If Mexico won, they were better,” Neymar told Espn Brazil. “Football is made up of wins and losses, no matter how much we try to honour this shirt,” he concluded.
